Artist Statement

My work has taken a sharp turn into the abstract. I have delved into the world of color and fixated on its interdependent relationship with its surrounding. When I’m mixing each color I am certain that the color is the color I have set out to mix. I trust my perception. The pink mixed is indeed pink. However, when placing the colors, the prior knowledge comes into question. I pull back, take in the work in its entirety and am certain that each element is pink. There is a presence this work requires: a persistence to remain focused and vigilant.
