Artist Statement

My work is in flux, constantly shifting between mediums, meanings, dimensions, real, and ethereal. The imagery in my work is sourced from both the historical archive as well as my own personal archive. The production and meaning of my work is heavily rooted in process and disruption/distortion.

Artist Bio

Owen Barensfeld is a Troy, NY photo based mixed media artist. Growing up in upstate NY, he was taught photography by his professional photographer and artist Aunt. In 2018 he earned his MFA from the University at Albany SUNY, developing work dealing with image fabrication and culture. He has exhibited in several location in the area including the University Art Museum, The Hyde Collection, and The Church. In addition, he has worked as Walid Raad’s studio assistant, is a cabinet maker, and avid producer of photo books.
