Gate Pairing Forest Hills, Acrylic paint on paper, 18" x 24", 2015.

Artist Statement

This painting titled, Gate Pairing Forest Hills, is inspired by the lines, textures and negative spaces jumping out to me as I commuted home everyday. I saw many iron wrought gates on residential apartment buildings and subway stations that excited me for their formal qualities. My painting explores a unrecognizable pairing of different gates that plays with realism and abstraction.
