Artist Statement

“When creating this piece, I was interested in exploring form, space and perspective by layering flat two-dimensional planes within a three-dimensional space. I was drawn to the semi-translucent yet rustic and fibrous quality of the mulberry paper in contrast to the flat, graphical nature of the lines and patterns. The shape of the figure is accentuated by undulating black lines which suggest the roundness of the form. I enjoy building both functional pieces and works of art using a variety of materials.”

Artist Bio

I work with paint, relief prints and a diverse range of media to explore the human body and its relationship to the subconscious, human perception and the human condition.
