These works approach the connection that exists between people, memory and place. After many years of war(s) in Iraq and Syria, many towns have been razed and buildings collapsed on people living inside. Innumerable memories have been lost. These statues are a reconstruction of destroyed cities, towns and villages in the form of human beings, using daily materials. The statues come in a variety of sizes, showing the different sizes of families, of people and of places. My art has a mission. The personal and the collective suffering of people must be expressed.
