Artist statement

I have been photographing, filming, drawing and painting reflections and distortions in water. Distortion is the key element that attracts me to reflections. The movement on the surface of the water and the flow of water can be very soothing, mesmerizing or chaotic depending on speed. The reflections undulate along the movement of the surface is alluring.

Artist bio

I am a lifelong resident of the Capital Region. I grew up in Troy and currently reside in Latham, NY. I went to The College of Saint Rose and received a BS in Studio Art in 1993. I went directly into the MFA program at the University at Albany and studied sculpture. My MFA thesis was focused on Female Body Image. I finished my MFA in May, 1996 and one month later became a mother. I began teaching art K-6 in 1997 and became a NYS certified Art Educator K-12 in 2000. I have been teaching High School Art since 2001 at Shaker High School, Latham, NY. I have had the opportunity to teach and model as an artist for 20 years. I have assisted hundreds of students in building portfolios for college. I continued to explore photography and in the past few years, video and digital media.
