STATEMENT

This series of drawings incorporates twisted linear structures as a malleable stage for fleeting concepts, feelings, and ideas—viscerally demonstrating how thoughts appear in and interact with the depths of one’s preverbal mind. The pliable and interwoven shapes that are the focal point of this series are structurally influenced by my formal education as a weaver and anatomically inspired by the complex folds of the brain and the bodily wiring system that allows us to process visual information. By utilizing this convertible structure as a base in my drawings, I am able to explore narrative ideas visually through drawing the way one might use lined paper in a written diary. Similar to a journal, each drawing is inspired by different vignettes and observations from my day-to-day life.
