Cathleen Clarke, "Memoir #2"
Artist Statement
Inspired by childhood and the enigmas that surround it, my work explores themes of memory, mystery, and the passing of time. The subjects in my paintings appear distorted, evoking a memory that is fading away. Referencing old family photos, childhood memories and found images, I allow the paint to interpret what is often overlooked or forgotten. In this way, the reference becomes a small piece in my process, and the end result is the memory and feeling I have from it.
