Zach Seeger 'Manhattan'
Drawer 5- Manhattan, watercolor, 12” x 9,” 2020
Artist Statement
The work is personal, intimate, and the result of making art during the time of COVID. The poetic and somewhat autobiographic nature of my work has not changed, but the material, mediums, and scale have-the work is intentionally smaller, with the notion of being owned, enjoyed, and possessed by collectors who seek artwork that is free of institutional heaviness, with the lyricism and freedom of 19th-early 20th century French painting and the optimistic searching of early American modernists Okeefe, Burchfield, Hartley, and Avery.Artist Bio
