Juan Alberto Negroni 'Salsa y aceite'
Drawer 4- Salsa y aceite, Mixed media on paper, 12" x 9", 2020
Artist Statement
Archipielagos Series (2015-ongoing) These mixed medias depict a bird’s eye view perception on the idea of an island as a piece of land that floats aimlessly on top of the ocean. Archipelagos series approaches the sense of distance that comes with displacement and hence the loss of one’s identity and the quest of reclaiming and recovering it. By applying vibrant color combinations and dynamic compositions, I intend to make a statement on the preconceived flawed and folkloric ideas we have about countries and their culture.
