Artist Statement

Amidst the global challenges of adapting to the Anthropocene, I find it increasingly distressing to conceptualize an optimistic vision of the future which also perpetuates of our historical tendency to center the human as the top of the hierarchy. Instead, I try to manifest an alternative existence that engages our surroundings with a respect for the ¨thing-power¨ (as Jane Bennet calls it) inherent in all material objects. This recognition of the material energy inherent in all things regardless of their title as animate or inanimate allows us to re-contextualize our awareness of Self as an Ecological Self.
