COLLUSIONS OF GRANDEUR - transfiguration

COLLUSIONS OF GRANDEUR - transfiguration - meets in soliloquy and spectacle. A surrealist multimedia opera engaging stories manifested through body evolutions. Snapshots and micro-takes of time in quarantine. Messages of trans and queer identity, spiritual downloads, ADHD, blackness, and magic. Where internal truths collide with external myths and reverberate at the body - the body as messenger, as vehicle. Quarantine imposed societal stillness and within that stillness a global moment of many movements. Journeying the streets of New York on foot for months I was greeted with nuance and the pursuit of integration of selves. Moments collected and stored in the body as legacy, Afrofuturistic visions, justice strategies, and fantastical thoughts tethered by escapism to self-regulate. A work rooted in the collusion of the performance of humanity. Thrilling moments and sonic expressions evoke grand opera thrust into the multiverse. Vocalized joy poems bend genre and arias of longing serve as musical anchors. Symphonic soundscapes pair with house music to conjure meditative states and access portals to the dream realm. Video and live dance are elemental for the ascent to reach the spectacular. Marching through the protagonist's hyper euphoric internal dialogue - arranging moments into many revolutions.
