Artist Statement

Modern life is a nonsense sandwich slathered with everything you could ever imagine, and sprinkled with more things for you to digest than you’ll ever be able to. My work is a processing of the non stop churning I sense is happening out there, amongst collective humanity. I work with collage, paint, and fiber patterns to create portals into alternate realities, remixing my perceptions into images that are as mashed-up in context as our world has become. Though based and influenced by analogue materials such as found books, magazines, and weaving and cross-stitching diagrams, my works speak to the digital image and its presence in our lives. I work to transform the overwhelm, nihilism, and sense of liminality I feel into expressions of digital cosmic flux. Sometimes the works I create are emotionally charged and unnerving, and sometimes they confront the void in a spiritual, peaceful way.
