Speed Curses
written and directed by Josh Chambers

January 2013

Performances:

Thursday January 24th 8pm
Friday January 25th 8pm and 10pm
Saturday January 26th 8pm

"The idea behind the work is that untapped literary and performative potential can found in new social media like Facebook and Twitter, and that the future of the written word is in dialogue: an immediate dialogue between writer and audience, which therefore becomes an act of performance… What I would like to propose for Collar Works is essentially multimedia performance. It would be music, collage, writing, and film, but would adhere to a form in which the deficiencies of American Theater can be thrown into relief against the backdrop of a pure, graceful, and relevant American art form: baseball. The performance would take the form of an operatic baseball game, and include coaches, umpires, announcers, and fans, as well as players. The goal would be to liberate the critique from the page, and allow it repositioning amidst the physical elegance of the game” -Josh Chambers on Speed Curses

Collar Works will be hosting Director Josh Chambers and his company for the performance of “Speed Curses” an original work by Chambers.  For three nights at the end of January the Collar Works space will be transformed into a performance stage where the audience (you) will be part of the action. Please join us for the show.
