ARTIST STATEMENT
Nosheen’s work is an exploration of self-preservation and identity. Her Pakistani and Islamic background is rich in color, pattern and texture which play a dominant role in how she examines the aspects of tactility and optics. Expanding past the traditional boundaries of embroidery, she pushes the idea of duality using juxtaposed materials. Through the use of wood and thread on varying planes, she engages the viewer to look deeper into diverse perspectives.

ARTIST BIO
Born in Surrey, England, she moved to Texas in her mid-teens. She received a BA with outstanding portfolio award in Communication Design from the University of North Texas. After graduation, she worked for Fossil for over a decade in design, art direction and finally as a lead watch designer. She has worked from brands such as DKNY, Armani Exchange, Fossil, Opening Ceremony and Michaels. She is currently a multidisciplinary artist working in the fields of product design and development as well as continuing her art practice.

Nosheen Iqbals Pakistani heritage plays a dominate role in her choice of colors, pattern and texture. Pakistan has a rich history of pigment dyeing and embroidery techniques which varies in each province and dates back further that the Mughal Empire. She is also heavily influences by the intricate and interlaced patterns found in Islamic Art. Taking key elements from classical tradition, she elaborates upon them in order to invent a new form of craft and design.

She has worked with brands such as Hermes to create extraordinary installations for their store window. She has also worked with brands such as Fossil, Opening Ceremony, Virgin Voyages and Marriott to just name a few. In addition, she has created charitable pieces for Dwell with Dignity, The Warren Center, ICNA and the Human League.
