STATEMENT

Reconnecting with the imagery that brought joy to my childhood is one of  my biggest creative inspirations. When rediscovering an old toy, or a favorite  picture book, a sense of nostalgia rushes over me. For a moment, I am able to put  aside any troubling thoughts and remember a simpler time. Even as the struggles of  present day return to my mind, the childhood imagery still sits with me. I think  about how these different characters and color palettes influenced who I am today,  even the memories that had previously slipped my mind. In my art making, I  intend to transfer the yearning for these feelings by utilizing these familiar motifs  to tell my own story.
