Dial-Up / Make New Connection
an exhibition of work by Patrick Mohundro, Curated by Benjamin H. Hillis

May 25-June 15, 2012
Opening Reception: Friday, May 25th from 5 to 9 pm

Collar Works is pleased to announce Dial-Up / Make New Connection, an exhibition of new drawings and paintings by Patrick Mohundro.

Dial-Up / Make New Connection investigates a collective history with the Internet. The drawings and paintings in this project depart from the standard contemporary penchant for self-referential digital art. Rather, Mohundro’s astute abstracted imagery creates a unique visual iconography with antiquated Internet icons. This body of work incorporates tightly rendered drawings and paintings coupled with soundscapes which invite the viewer to meditate on the overarching effects of the internet on our daily lives, from commerce to popular culture. Mohundro’s subtle articulation of subject matter and medium generates an intriguing visual correspondence between viewer and imagery.

Patrick Mohundro graduated with a BFA from Kendall College of Art and Design in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 2007. Recently a Fellowship Artist at Salem Art Works in Salem, NY, he has also been awarded residency at the Swing Space Residency of Governors Island, Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, New York, NY.
