Botany / 808’s
new work by Robin Arnold

March 28th-April 27th, 2014
Artist Reception: Friday, March 28th from 5 to 9 pm

Arnold's recent work is inspired by botanical phenomena, from the hidden dynamics of a tiny seed to larger ecosystems. Botany / 808’s acknowledge both the synthetic interface that mars the contemporary experience of nature -  and nature’s surprising ability to subvert human control.

Robin Arnold has received numerous honors for her creative work, including a Millay Colony Fellowship, a Ford Foundation Grant, and multiple creative research grants. Her works have been exhibited nationally, at such venues as Axel Raben Gallery and Steinbaum Krauss Gallery in New York City, the New York State Museum in Albany, A.R.C. Gallery Chicago, Butler Institute of American Art in Ohio, and Cornell University. Selected reviews include the New York Times, Art New England, Albany Times Union, Detroit Free Press, and Direct Art Magazine. Robin Arnold holds an MFA in painting from Michigan State University. She lives and works in New Paltz, NY, where she is a Professor in Painting and Drawing at the State University of New York.
